Chip Boaz infuses a healthy dose of joy, a wealth of performance experience, and a unique approach every time he leads his jazz trio. A veteran of the Bay Area music scene, Boaz has performed jazz and salsa at the San Francisco Jazz Festival, the San Jose Jazz Festival, and countless venues throughout the greater Bay. Now based in Sonoma County, Boaz has recently released his EP New Chapter, along with numerous singles. Along the way, Boaz has attracted a worldwide audience through an online presence based on regular videos featuring original music.
Drawing upon a diverse collection of influences and experience, Boaz channels that joy into an an improvisational conversation with his trio that runs an emotional gamut from fiery to reflective. While jazz standards certainly play a part in the trio’s set, the majority of the music comes from Boaz, a prolific composer. Proficient on both acoustic upright bass and six string bass guitar, Boaz brings an array of stylistic ideas into a jazz trio format, with traditional swing, Brazilian and Afro-Cuban styles, as well a funky groove. Every performance from The Chip Boaz Trio is a jubilant celebration of jazz and personality, full of exciting and joyful moments.
